I'm now a WebHostingTalk Community Liaison!
For the past year, I've been helping WHT be an even better place, by reporting threads and guiding members with my rank of Community Guide.

As of 13th of October, 5 days after my 24th birthday, me and 3 other friends have been promoted to Community Liaisons. We are now moderators of the advertising forums, and we hope to get even more responsibilities as the time passes.

It will be an honor serving WHT more actively, and I hope to see all of you there, it's a great community :smile smiley:

Here is WHT: WebHostingTalk.com
And here is me there: Harzem

See you there!

My new computer!
Hello people,

For almost for 5 years I was using my good ol' Pentium 4 computer for everything. I have an online life, coding, designing, administrating, surfing... It's been a fine 5 years, but my PC was getting slower and slower. Mozilla now uses too much memory and cpu, Gmail is a resource hog, Photoshop CS3 almost needs dedicated hardware to run! People release updates of software, I install them all, and they keep slowing my machine.

But not anymore!

Did you know what I was using until now? That was a decent machine 5 years ago.

Pentium 4 2.6 Ghz Processor (with Hyper-Threading! couldn't ask for more :P)
2 GB RAM (used to be 256 MB, then 1 GB, finally 2 GB)
80 GB IDE drive (yes, it's correct)
Asus p4c800 mobo
19" CRT monitor (this was heavier than me)
128 MB GeForce Fx 5200 video card (more than enough for me)

But I upgraded to a better one now.

Intel Q9300 2.5 Ghz 6MB cache 4 cores (scores 8 times better than a P4!)
4 GB DDR2 800 Mhz RAM (windows XP doesn't see more than 3.25GB! Damn 32-bit!)
2x250GB SATA2 in RAID-0 for the operating system (that thing is fast!)
500 GB SATA2 for storage (that thing is big!)
250 GB SATA2 for internal backup (that thing is... nice)
MSI P45 Platinum Motherboard
512 MB GeForce 8800GT video card (scores, well, a *lot* better than my fx5200)
Samsung 19" 932GW widescreen LCD monitor with 2ms response time and 5000:1 contrast (this was a huge upgrade for me!)

Now, you will probably want some photos. I would be more than happy to provide, but my room is so cluttered with the pieces of my old pc, boxes of new parts, cables to transfer data from the old one to the new one etc, so I'd rather not expose the dirt for now :P

And back to the computer configuration. This box scores a whooping 1400 at Passmark Performance Test, with varying results. I'll make a few more tests to see the average, but 1400 is quite nice to see (after 5 years!).

I'll update this post if and when I have anything else to say, and when I take a few "clean" photos of the machine!
